The transition to domestic "sim cards" may begin at the end of this year. This initiative is dictated by security considerations. The fact is that SIM-cards of foreign manufacturers, which are now purchased by Russian operators, use proprietary means of cryptographic protection, and therefore there is a possibility of "backdoor" moves.
In this regard, the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation to introduce domestic cryptographic protection systems on cellular networks in our country. To do this, you will have to switch to new SIM-cards.
Initially it was assumed that these SIM-cards will be completely Russian. But now it turns out that foreign chips will be used in them. The South Korean giant Samsung will act as a solution provider.
At the same time, it is noted that in the future, chips from other suppliers can also be used in trusted SIM cards.
Sales of "sim cards" with domestic encryption can be organized in our country in December.
