Russian media report that the use of blockchain and cryptocurrency will soon be officially permitted in Moscow, Kaliningrad, Kaluga region and Perm region. Izvestia reported on the implementation of a test project in this direction, citing an informed source in the Russian Ministry of Economic Development.
The project will be carried out within the framework of the regulatory sandbox, due to which it will be possible to carry out local testing of new technologies and developments that are not yet prescribed in the countryβs legislation. The Ministry of Economic Development is confident that the previously announced experiment will have a positive effect on increasing the speed of integration of new technologies within the Russian market. It is worth noting that in addition to blockchain and cryptocurrencies, technologies in the field of artificial intelligence, robotics, virtual and augmented reality, neuro- and quantum technologies will be tested in the regions.
Let us recall that last month it was announced that the Bank of Russia is exploring the possibility of limiting the volume of annual cash spending by Russian residents on cryptocurrency. All tokens issued using blockchain may be subject to the restriction, including real estate, property, securities, shares in companies, etc. It is expected that the upper limit of the amount that can be spent annually on the purchase of crypto-assets is within 600 rubles .
