Samsung patents new smart watch

On December 24 of this year, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) granted Samsung a patent for a "Wearable electronics device".

This name hides "smart" watches. As you can see in the published illustrations, the gadget will receive a square-shaped display. Obviously, support for touch control will be implemented.

The images indicate the presence of an array of sensors in the back of the case. It can be assumed that the sensors will allow you to take indicators such as heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, etc.

It should be noted that the patent application was filed in 2015. And this means that the design of the gadget, according to modern ideas, is somewhat outdated. So, for example, the display has too wide bezels.

Therefore, it is possible that the commercial version of the device will receive a different design if it enters the market. Samsung can use, say, a flexible screen.

According to IDC estimates, 305,2 million wearable devices such as smartwatches, fitness bracelets, wireless headphones, etc. will be shipped worldwide this year. This will correspond to an increase of 71,4% compared to 2018.
