An 8-year-old video showing Prince of Persia Redemption, a canceled restart of the series, was found on the Web

Reddit forum user under a pseudonym Anotheronebiteofass I discovered an eight-year-old video on YouTube demonstrating what appears to be a canceled game in the Prince of Persia universe.

An 8-year-old video showing Prince of Persia Redemption, a canceled restart of the series, was found on the Web

The three-minute video Prince of Persia Redemption - this is the title (possibly working) of the project - dates back to March 2012. Before discovery, it had about 150 views, and at the time of publication of this material - already more than three thousand.

Apparently, the video does not demonstrate pure gameplay, but the so-called target render - a simulation of the graphics expected in the game with an interface superimposed on top.

The events of the video take place in a densely populated Middle Eastern city, which is attacked by a huge land kraken. Throughout the video, the main character runs towards the monster and ends up right on top of it.

The local Prince, like 15 years ago, can run along walls (and also cling to them) and rewind time. In addition, the protagonist has the ability to literally drain the souls of his enemies, but this trick does not work on the mini-boss.

History is silent about what ultimately happened to Prince of Persia Redemption, but two years ago there was a video commented Ubisoft assistant technical director Marc-Andre Belleau: β€œWhere did you get this?”

The authenticity of the video was confirmed by a former animator of The Last of Us Part II and Assassin's Creed 3 Jonathan Cooper. According to him, this rendering is the merit of the team of Khai Nguyen, who is currently working on For Honor.

The canceled Prince of Persia also showed up in resume of 3D animator Christophe Prelot. He worked on the project from 2010 to 2011, during which time he created "a crumbling Persian city with scripted events."

Rumors about a possible resurrection of the Prince of Persia franchise are already circulating on the Internet. a few months, however, so far they have only found rebuttal. Recent domain registration princeofpersia6.com and may even turn out to be a duck.
