Next year, AMD will actively push Intel in the segment of server processors

Shares of American technology companies, which are more or less dependent on China, have been fluctuating in recent days amid statements by the American president about positive developments in trade negotiations with China. However, interest in AMD shares has been fueled by speculators since the end of September, as noted by some analysts. The company continues to release new 7nm products, the idea that they have advanced qualities and competitive advantages haunts even those stock market players who are very far from understanding the status quo.

Next year, AMD will actively push Intel in the segment of server processors

AMD shares are now about 13% cheaper than in August, which is explained by investors' concern not only about the alignment of competitive forces, but also about the macroeconomic situation. Cowen experts believe that all these difficulties are temporary, and with such a set of 7nm products, AMD has every chance to move the competitor in 2020. The processors of this company have already demonstrated the ability to increase AMD's market share, next year this trend will be especially pronounced in the server segment. Unfortunately, the gaming console segment is still going through a “shift change” in light of the release of new products in 2020, and therefore AMD will be able to rely on it only towards the end of next year.

But in the server segment, according to Cowen experts, AMD is on the side of not only a more favorable ratio of price and performance of EPYC processors, but also active support for large customers such as Amazon, Baidu, Microsoft and Tencent. Analysts raise the forecast for AMD shares to $40 per share against the current $30. The timing of the publication of AMD's quarterly report has not yet been officially announced, but from the experience of past years, we know that it should be expected by the last week of October. The third quarter of this year is the first full three-month market presence for 7nm Ryzen processors (Matisse), 7nm EPYC server processors (Rome), and Radeon RX 5700 series graphics cards (Navi 10). Last quarter's statistics can tell a lot about the market's reaction to the release of these products.
