Steam search updated with important filters and sorting options

Valve continues to improve the Steam digital store: new features have been added to the website and application aimed at simplifying search games.

After testing in the Steam Lab, Valve took into account user feedback and released a ready-made solution. β€œThe search experiment started with exploring new ranking algorithms, but feedback helped us scale up our efforts, so today's update includes many more improvements. Big changes are always more noticeable, but it is attention to detail that makes the user experience more enjoyable,” said a Valve representative.

So, sorting by prices, discounts (since the β€œNew Items” and β€œDiscounts” sections are the most popular in the store) and language has been introduced into the Steam search. Additionally, you can now use tags to more accurately search for games by genre. They can be either included or excluded. For example, when searching for a survival game, you might want to exclude those that contain zombies from the list.

Also in the search there is an opportunity to hide ignored products, those already purchased and those that you have placed on your wish list. And if you want to find a product only for virtual reality headsets or with VR support, then a corresponding checkbox has appeared. In the same way, you can exclude the display of similar games in the search.

Well, an equally important innovation is the endless scrolling of the search results page. Now you don't have to manually switch pages, and your search parameters and where you left off are saved when you go to a product page.
