Edition drew attention to the assignment of the age rating "M" (from 17 years old) to the action game The Last of Us Part II. The ESRB stated in the description that the game includes nudity and sexual content. For Naughty Dog, the upcoming sequel will be the first project to feature such scenes.
The ESRB Commission mentioned sexual content, not sexual themes. There is a certain difference between these concepts. The first refers to "implicit depictions of sexual behavior, which may include partial nudity". And the second point denotes references to bed scenes and references to erotica.
However, The Last of Us Part II received this rating not only because of the sexual content. According to the description from the ESRB, the game contains a lot of violence, rude language, drugs and gore.
The project will be released on May 29, 2020 exclusively on PlayStation 4. Originally Naughty Dog to release the sequel on February 21, but the studio needed extra time to finalize it.
