WhatsApp for Android is testing biometric identification

WhatsApp is working on implementing biometric authentication for Android phones. The latest beta version of the program in the Google Play Store demonstrates this development in all its glory.

Enabling biometric authentication on Android reportedly blocks screenshots. It is clear from the description that when the biometrics check is running, the system requires an authorized fingerprint to run the program, and at the same time blocks the ability to take screenshots of the screen with chats.

At the same time, it has not yet been specified whether such a scheme of work will be in the release, and it is also not clear how this release should be expected. Moreover, the restrictions apply only to Android devices. WhatsApp on the iPhone already supports facial recognition, that is, just another analogue of "biometrics". At the same time, no one forbids taking screenshots of chats.

To enable this feature, you need to go to "Settings" > "Account" > "Privacy". In the same place, you can set up a delay for blocking the program: after 1 minute, 10 minutes, 30 minutes, or immediately. At the same time, if the program does not recognize the fingerprint or there were too many unsuccessful attempts, WhatsApp will be blocked for several minutes.

In addition, in this beta version of WhatsApp, the developers have combined stickers and emoji on one page. In the current release, emoticons, GIFs and stickers are separated for now. Apparently this will soon change as well.
