Windows 10 expands smartphone support

A new version of the Windows 10 operating system will be released soon - May 2019 Update number 1904. And developers from Redmond are already preparing fresh insider builds for 2020. It is reported that Windows 10 Build 18 885 (20H1), which available testers and early access participants, support for some new smartphones based on the Android operating system has appeared.

Windows 10 expands smartphone support

The new build has added the ability to work with the β€œYour Phone” application for a number of smartphones. These are, in particular, the OnePlus 6 and 6T models, as well as the Samsung Galaxy S10e, S10, S10 +, Note 8 and Note 9. In addition, the program itself has added a notification function that allows you to display messages from your smartphone on the computer screen.

The Your Phone app itself can be used on any computer running Windows 10 (Windows build 1803 (RS4) or later). Most smartphones running Android version 7.0 and older can work with it. However, the extended functionality is, of course, only in the test version.

This feature is expected to be released in at least a year. This will allow smartphones on Android and PCs on Windows 10 to be connected into a single ecosystem, as is implemented by Apple. However, it is not yet clear whether this feature will survive until release, because developers often remove the function from test versions of the operating system and then never return to it.

In general, many new features are expected in future builds of the β€œtens”, in addition to synchronization with smartphones. In particular, you should expect the appearance of tabs for Explorer and all standard programs.
