November Half-Life: Alyx as a virtual reality headset exclusive came as a surprise to many users. The project aims to Valve Index device, the owners of which will receive it for free, but the game will also be released on other headsets with SteamVR support. However, now users are interested in whether it is possible to release Half-Life: Alyx on PS VR. This question was answered by project designer Greg Coomer.
ΠΠ°ΠΊ portal PushSquare, a representative of Valve confirmed the initial launch of Half-Life: Alyx on devices with SteamVR support, but the studio understands the desire of users to see the game on PS VR: βWe believe that Sonyβs VR platform has made great strides in the field of virtual reality, and we expect "that many Sony users will want to dive into the next chapter of Half-Life."
Greg Coomer then said that the PS VR version of the game is not currently in active development as the team is "focused on the initial launch," but Valve is "not ruling anything out." From his words, it becomes clear that Half-Life: Alyx may appear on PS VR, but this will not happen in the near future. However, the option is to launch a project on a platform whose user base 4 million people looks very tempting. That is why Valve is not yet rejecting the option of porting Half-Life: Alyx.
The game will be released in March 2020 and is already available for pre-order on Steam.
