Valve has fixed a bug in Steam that affects the count of Linux users

In the next beta release of the Steam client fixed an error due to which the Linux assembly of the program crashed when preparing data about the user's environment used, on the basis of which statistics are calculated Steam Hardware & Software Survey. It is proposedthat the fixed issue was one of the reasons for the low share of Linux in Steam reports, as attempts to send data from Linux users ended with the crash of the application. In the December report from Steam, the share of Linux was only 0.67%.

Supplement: Problem fixed by Arch Linux and Gentoo users since the beginning of the year, but similar crash reports periodically pop up since 2017 and also affected Fedora ΠΈ Slackware.
