Leading Japanese manufacturer backs Washington's measures against Chinese firms

Japanese technology company Tokyo Electron, the world's third-largest supplier of chip manufacturing equipment, will not cooperate with Chinese firms blacklisted by the United States. This was reported to Reuters by one of the top managers of the company, who wished to remain anonymous.

The decision shows that Washington's calls to ban technology sales to Chinese firms, including Huawei Technologies, have found a following among companies in other countries that are not bound by US laws.

“We will not do business with Chinese customers that Applied Materials and Lam Research are prohibited from doing business with,” said a top Tokyo Electron executive, citing leading US chip manufacturing equipment companies.
