The UK expects to reduce the cost of AI infrastructure by 1000 times

The UK's Advanced Research and Innovation Agency (ARIA), according to Datacenter Dynamics, has initiated a project worth approximately $53,5 million, which aims to "reimagine the computing paradigm." Scientists expect to develop new technologies and architectures that will reduce the cost of AI infrastructures by 1000 times compared to today's systems. The rapid growth in demand for AI applications and HPC solutions leads to a sharp increase in the load on data centers. This forces operators and hyperscalers to purchase powerful, expensive accelerators, which are in short supply. At the same time, data center energy consumption is increasing. Data centers are estimated to account for up to 1,5% of global electricity consumption and 1% of global CO2 emissions.
