This is not the first time NetherRealm Studios has used the aforementioned protection in their games. The previous fighting game, Injustice 2, was also DRM-enabled by the company. Almost immediately after the announcement, the developers of Mortal Kombat 11 stated that the PC version of their new game would not repeat the mistakes of Mortal Kombat X. It is curious that at the time of writing the news, the page of the future NetherRealm Studios project on Steam is not available through the browser. It can still be accessed through the Steam client - this is probably a technical error.
