Gearbox at PAX East 2019 brought some news to fans of the Borderlands series. Among other announcements (the main of which is, of course, the third part), a free update for Borderlands: The Handsome Collection was presented, which will be released on April 3rd. The DLC will bring texture support for 4K resolution, HDR, and a number of other improvements to PC, PS4 Pro, and Xbox One X.
Borderlands: The Handsome Collection includes the most complete and up-to-date versions of Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, complete with all updates and expansions. Consoles also support cooperative play on one split screen (up to 4 people). On this occasion, a special trailer was even released with the music of Meth Lab Zoso Sticker by 7Horse:
On PlayStation 4 Pro, the High Resolution Texture Pack will appear as DLC for Borderlands: The Handsome Collection. On PC or Xbox One X, this bundle will be available as a separate download for Borderlands: Pre-Sequel and Borderlands 2.
On consoles, the update will bring the following:
- 4K Ultra HD and HDR resolution support for Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro;
- updated environment textures in 4K, including geometry and skyboxes;
- characters and vehicles designed for 4K;
- updated weapon models and textures;
- recoded to 4K videos;
- improved full-screen anti-aliasing and implementation of lines on the borders of objects, including contours around character models;
- higher resolution dynamic shadows, and the quality and uniformity of shadows has also been improved, especially during movement.
On PC, the update will bring everything the same, with the exception of HDR support. But owners of computer versions will receive support for an improved SSAO global shading method for more realistic scene lighting.
