Video: four-legged robot HyQReal pulls an airplane

Italian developers have created a four-legged robot, HyQReal, capable of winning heroic competitions. The video shows HyQReal dragging a 180-tonne Piaggio P.3 Avanti aircraft nearly 33 feet (10 m). The action took place last week at Genoa Cristoforo Columbus International Airport.

The HyQReal robot, created by scientists at the Genoa Research Center (Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, IIT), is the successor to HyQ, a much smaller model they developed several years ago.

The robot was presented at the 2019 International Conference on Robotics and Automation, currently taking place at The Palais des congress de Montreal in Montreal (Canada).

HyQReal measures 4 Γ— 3 ft (122 Γ— 91 cm). It weighs 130 kg, including a 15 kg battery that provides up to 2 hours of battery life. It is dust and water resistant and can pick itself up if it falls or tips over.
