During E3 2019, developers from CD Projekt RED showed off an impressive cinematic trailer for the upcoming action RPG Cyberpunk 2077. It introduced viewers to the brutal world of the game, the main character is the mercenary V, and for the first time showed Keanu Reeves (Keanu Reeves) as Johnny Silverhand.

Now, CD Projekt RED, along with visual effects studio Goodbye Kansas, have shared a short video that takes viewers behind the scenes of the cinematic trailer. The video is edited very dynamically, so it's very exciting to watch the process of turning ideas into the final product.

The video shows how conceptual drawings are turned into a cinematic picture; how motion capture works for key scenes of the video; characters are created, their movements and facial expressions; lighting is applied; the Night City landscape is filled with graphic advertising; the walls of the city are animated by various drawings, and so on. For those who missed it, or want to refresh their memory, here is the cinematic trailer from E3 (remember: the graphics and what happens in it do not represent the actual game experience).

By the way, NVIDIA recently published on its YouTube channel short video interview with Marthe Jonkers, Senior Concept Artist for Cyberpunk 2077 at CD Projekt RED. She talked about how ray tracing and other modern technologies can increase realism and embody the most daring ideas and concepts of artists in the game.
