Kickstarter launched a fundraiser for Prodeus, an old-school first-person shooter with modern graphics that was announced last November. Until April 24, its authors, designer Jason Mojica (Jason Mojica) and special effects artist Mike Voller (Mike Voeller), who worked on Doom (2016), need to raise $ 52 thousand. At the moment, more than $ 21 thousand have been received from them.

The creators decided to "take the look and gameplay of the iconic shooters of the nineties and remake them according to Moore's law." “More action, more explosions, more gore, more hypertrophied special effects,” they describe the project. The player will take on the role of an agent, "hungry to destroy his creator and everyone who gets in his way."

“In the development of Prodeus, we combine old and new design approaches,” explained Mojica and Voller. “We keep improving each level until we make sure the pace is right and the combat and finding secrets is fun. The dynamic soundtrack plays in the same rhythm with the gameplay, becoming more intense at critical moments. Our special splatter simulation technology literally allows the gamer to paint an entire level with enemy blood."

Many elements will allow you to customize to your taste. Users will be able to change the interface (you can add all possible indicators, leave some or hide them completely), choose filters and enemy models (sprite or fully three-dimensional), post-processing effects, resolution and viewing angle (from 30 ° to 120 °). “We just want to let you enjoy the game the way you want,” the developers say.

The authors are already working on a "powerful and intuitive" level editor that will make it "easy and fun" to create your own maps. It will be built into the game itself - it will be possible to launch it directly from the menu. In addition, they will release tools that allow users to share their creations, as well as rate and view them in a convenient way. Also promised is support for leaderboards for each level, from which it will be possible to find out the leaders in high-speed passage - normal, one hundred percent and without a single death. The editor is shown in the video below.

The collected funds will allow expanding the team - we need artists, designers, animators and programmers. Also, funds are needed to pay for the content distribution service. They promise to make the development transparent: new information will regularly appear on the Kickstarter blog, as well as on Twitter.

Mojica and Voller have been in the gaming industry for over ten years. They participated in the creation of Call of Duty: Black Ops, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, BioShock: Infinite, Payday 2 and Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection. Mojica is also working on the shooter The Blackout Club, which was released in early access at the end of 2018.

The system requirements have already been published on the Steam page (but you should keep in mind that they may change by the release). The minimum configuration is a quad-core processor with a clock speed of 2 GHz, 2 GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 or AMD Radeon HD 7870 graphics card. For a comfortable game at high settings, an eight-core processor with a clock speed of at least 3 GHz, 6 GB of RAM and NVIDIA GeForce is recommended GTX 1050 or AMD Radeon RX 560. So far, only the tenth version of DirectX is supported.

Prodeus will be released on Steam Early Access in Fall 2019. This version is designed for several hours of gameplay and will include selected types of enemies and weapons, as well as a level editor and the ability to publish your work. In the full version (due in 2020), levels, enemies and weapons will become more diverse. Also, the authors will add support for multiplayer and co-op. The final release can take place not only on PC, but also on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, but the developers do not give any guarantees. In 2020-2021, they plan to add new content to the game, including mini-campaigns. To reserve a copy, you need to pay at least $15 (this price is valid for a special offer - the number of keys is limited).
