Samsung decided to dispel doubts about the durability of the Galaxy Fold foldable smartphone by explaining how each device is tested.
The company has shared a video that shows how Galaxy Fold smartphones undergo factory stress tests, during which they are folded, then opened, and then folded again.
Samsung claims that the $1980 Galaxy Fold smartphone (in the US) can withstand at least 200 flexes and extensions. And if the number of flexion-extension cycles does not exceed 000 per day, then its service life will be about 100 years.
But, as Engadget writes, the question is not whether the Galaxy Fold can fold and unfold properly, but that there are also aesthetic issues that could affect the demand for a new product.
First, the smartphone does not fold perfectly like a sheet of paper, it has a small gap between the two parts when folded. Secondly, when opened, a wrinkle appears on the display of the Galaxy Fold. You can see it in the photo below.
However, it is not yet clear how much such display flaws can affect smartphone sales. Recall that the Samsung Galaxy Fold will go on sale in the US on April 26 at a price of $ 1980, in Europe its implementation will begin on May 3 at a price of 2000 euros.
