Video: official teaser of Redmi Y3 shows the design of the device and testing its durability

Xiaomi tested the survivability of Redmi Note 7, breaking them walnuts, using as a basis for roller skates and throwing the apparatus in the waste paper basket from the stairs, after wrapping the basket with adhesive tape. They decided to do something similar with the upcoming Redmi Y3 in a small promotional video on the eve of the announcement.

This new teaser from the company's Indian arm follows previous, in which the company focused on a 4000 mAh battery capacity and a gradient body design. Now it has become officially clear what the device looks like and what it promises us. The video shows that the Redmi Y3 will indeed receive a textured back side, equipped with a dual camera and a fingerprint scanner, and a waterdrop-shaped cutout for the camera will appear on the display. The screen itself will have thin frames on all sides and a small chin at the bottom.

In addition to the design itself, the video also demonstrates the durability of the device by subjecting it to an impromptu drop test: the device is again thrown into a basket and carried down the stairs, and then the smartphone is removed without scratches or damage. Redmi Y3 will officially launch on April 24 and will be the sequel to 2's Redmi Y2018.

Redmi Y is a budget series aimed at lovers of self-portraits. And while the previous generation (Redmi Y2) came with a 16 MP front camera, Redmi Y3 will receive a 32 MP front camera, making it the first device with such a sensor in the Redmi family. Presumably, the 32-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL Bright GD1 sensor, announced back in October last year, will be used.
