For the PAX East 2019 event in Boston, Insomniac Games has unveiled a fresh story trailer for their ambitious open-world project Stormland, created in collaboration with Oculus Studios. The game is due out this year as a Rift virtual reality helmet exclusive.

The main character is a humanoid robot who has been taking care of the nature of his planet for years. But the Tempest organization, determined to take over his world, damages the robot's body. Now the former gardener must travel through an ever-changing world to empower himself with new parts and save his friends. You need to explore vast open spaces, jump over rocks, rush over chasms and fly in low pressure zones.

Explosives, electricity and homemade weapons can be used to fight robotic opponents and mutated creatures. Both single player and the ability to explore the Forgotten Ruins with a friend will be supported. Back at the time of the initial announcement, Oculus said that Stormland is the deepest and biggest game it has funded so far.

The developers promise the ability to quickly and easily navigate the world using the new Touch mechanics; the world that is constantly changing as a result of Tempest's activities; the ability to develop your own style of play by extensive modification of the character's body to obtain new abilities and skills.

From the creators of Ratchet & Clank, Resistance and the highly successful Marvel's Spider-Man, this project looks promising. And the success of these games is critical to the future of the entire VR industry, which is still a niche industry.
