Video: SpaceX spacesuits are connected to the chairs and are part of the Dragon spacecraft

After the successful delivery of American astronauts to the ISS using the Crew Dragon, SpaceX naturally maintains the public's attention and shares various details. This time, space enthusiasts were offered a video sequence dedicated to on-board spacesuits that provide basic protection for the crew inside the ship.

Π’ΠΏΠ΅Ρ€Π²Ρ‹Π΅ spacesuit prototype was shown in the summer of 2017. In addition to the futuristic appearance, one of the important goals in the development of these protections was ease of use. When astronauts sit in their chairs, their spacesuits are connected to and part of the spacecraft's avionics and electronics systems. The suits receive cooled air, creating a comfortable temperature inside, and also provide communication and hearing protection (however, for some reason, during the flight to the ISS, the pilots used wired microphone).

Like the Dragon transport itself, the crew suits were created exclusively by SpaceX at its headquarters in Hawthorne, California, where the launch vehicle and cargo capsule were developed. The suit is designed individually for each member of the space mission and adjusted to his physique.

Striving for innovations, engineers did not forget about the main thing - safety and reliability of operation. The main purpose of spacesuits is to provide protection for the crew in an emergency situation of depressurization of the ship's cabin or fire. As in the case of thermal control, they receive air through the seats if necessary to maintain increased pressure.

The helmet has a number of different features. Of course, it protects the head, and besides, it has a number of microphones inside and valves that regulate pressure. Gloves, as was demonstrated, allow you to interact with regular touch screens and Crew Dragon navigation and information panels.

Last year, NASA introduced full-fledged spacesuits for work in outer space, and in Russia in January they announced the start of the development of a new model spacesuit for lunar missions.
