Video: comparison of GTA V and Mafia remake on all fronts - open world, detailing, physics and more

The author of the ElAnalistaDeBits YouTube channel published a fresh video in which he made a thorough comparison Grand Theft Auto V and Mafia: Definitive Edition, a fresh remake of the first part of the franchise. The games have many similar elements, which are compared in the video. These include the open world, car damage system, vehicle physics, detailing, and so on.

It’s worth noting that GTA V, a seven-year-old game, looks pretty good compared to Mafia: Definitive Edition. However, for comparative purposes, the author of the video took the PC version of the Rockstar action game, released in 2015. In some aspects, Rockstar's creation is ahead of the new product from Hangar 13. For example, Grand Theft Auto V has more realistic physics. After a serious collision, the driver flies out through the windshield, and does not remain in the cabin, as in the Mafia remake.

GTA V also implements some details in the open world a little better. These primarily include the behavior of NPCs that correctly respond to the actions of the protagonist. And in Mafia: Definitive Edition, drivers don't even try to avoid Tommy if he blocks their way. However, it is worth noting that the open world in the story-oriented project Hangar 13 is a decoration, and no stake was placed on its development.

There are also aspects of graphics in which the recent remake bypasses Grand Theft Auto V - in particular, in the detailing of environmental objects, reflections and lighting. Some of the visual effects also look better than in GTA V.

Mafia: Definitive Edition was released on September 25, 2020 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Recently opinion about the game shared creator of the original Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven, Daniel Vavra.
