A 5-minute gameplay video appeared on the IGN YouTube channel
Judging by the video presented, the battles in the later stages of The Ascent will be marked by high dynamics. The protagonist has to fight with dozens of opponents who differ in size, skills and weapons. One wields a large hammer, the second throws grenades, and the third fires laser projectiles. The game implements dismemberment, so that when you kill enemies, limbs fly in different directions, and fountains of blood erupt from their bodies.
The main character also uses different guns in battles: a heavy machine gun, a rifle with a laser sight, and a pistol. And to more effectively destroy enemies, he activates all sorts of skills. One of them allows you to lift nearby opponents into the air and immobilize them for a few seconds. Throwing a mine, which creates an explosion in a certain radius, is most likely also included in the attack skills. When itβs time to defend, the protagonist makes dashes, hides behind objects and activates an energy shield around himself.
In the latest video, viewers were shown several locations in a cyberpunk setting, between which the hero moves on elevators. It is worth noting the vertical structure of the levels and the differences in visual design: in some places neon signs and cold metal structures predominate, and in others there are huge bundles of wires and rust-covered objects. At the end of the video it is demonstrated that not all levels will have to fight. There are also peaceful zones with non-player characters, where, apparently, you can take on quests and participate in various activities.
The Ascent will be released on PC (Steam), Xbox One and Xbox Seriex X in 2020, the exact date has not yet been announced.
