A new video of the meditative project Paper Beast (literally, βPaper Beastβ) for the PlayStation VR virtual reality helmet has appeared on the PlayStation channel. Developed by Pixel Reef Studio, the creator of which is the French game designer Eric Chahi, known for such games as Another World, The Time Travelers, Heart of Darkness and ... If in rather than the general aesthetics of the paper world, the new one focuses on the interaction of the player with bizarre virtual creatures.
The developers note that they have created a deep simulation system designed to revive the game universe. The trailer shows the winds that not only carry particles over the desert, but are also able to tear off the local animals from the ground. The player can attract creatures in a variety of ways and raise them with motion controllers while moving and exploring the world.
Meditative games are not uncommon these days. According to the history of the world of Paper Beast, somewhere deep in the memory of a server that stores endless amounts of data, its own ecosystem began to form. Decades of lost code and forgotten algorithms began to intertwine in the whirlwinds and streams of the Web, one day giving birth to a small bubble of life - this is how this mysterious and strange world was born.
The developers promise that the charming wildlife, similar to origami-style paper crafts, adapts to the behavior and actions of the player. The ecosystem lives and interacts according to its own laws, and strange creatures roam the area in search of prey. Thanks to virtual reality and idiosyncratic style, Paper Beast can be quite curious, but whether it will be able to captivate for a long time is unclear.
