Senior Vice President of the Chinese company Xiaomi Wang Xiang posted a video on his Twitter account that demonstrates the playback of 8K streaming video by the Mi Mix 3 5G smartphone. At the same time, the device itself operates in a fifth generation communication network. It was previously reported that this smartphone is equipped with a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chip and a Snapdragon X50 modem. In the mentioned video, attention is focused not on the smartphone itself, but on the limitless possibilities that the 5G network provides. According to Wang Xiang, the ultra-high data transfer speed and minimal delays provided by the fifth generation communication network will allow users to gain new experiences with mobile devices.

Earlier, Xiaomi representatives said that the Mi Mix 3 5G device was tested together with the operator China Unicom. The tests carried out confirmed that the smartphone is capable of playing video in 8K format in real time. The gadget was also tested during video calls and when controlling various IoT devices. The device will soon appear on the market, despite the fact that commercial 5G networks have not yet become widespread. Statistics show that many users are ready to switch to using a 5G smartphone before telecom operators provide full coverage and a stable connection.

As for the device itself, the Mi Mix 3 5G is equipped with a 6,39-inch Super AMOLED display that supports a resolution of 2340 Γ— 1080 pixels. The screen has an aspect ratio of 19,5:9 and occupies 93,4% of the front surface. The main camera of the device is formed from a pair of 12 MP sensors and is complemented by an AI-based software solution. As for the front camera, it is based on a 24-megapixel main sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor.

Performance is provided by the Snapdragon 855 chip, which is complemented by a Snapdragon X50 modem and 6 GB of RAM. The Adreno 630 accelerator is responsible for graphics processing. The power source for the first Xiaomi smartphone with 5G support is a 3800 mAh battery that supports wireless charging.

It is expected that the new product will go on sale in the European region in May this year and will cost about €599.
