Studio Systemic Reaction has published a 16-minute gameplay video of the upcoming co-op shooter Second Extinction. The action of the project takes place in the future of the Earth, which was captured by mutated dinosaurs.
The video is a demonstration of the game on behalf of Amir, a member of a team of three people who landed on Earth in search of a research group. In the tutorial mission, you need to shoot down the drone in order to get map data and points of interest. Since most of humanity lives on the orbital station, you can get supplies throughout your sortie, including ammo and critical supplies like data-gathering scanners.
Also in the recording there is a battle against a tyrannosaurus rex. To kill him, players need to shoot at the glowing weak spot on his throat. In addition to this, they used grenades and even called an orbital laser strike. After the assassination, Amir locates the exploration team and protects them from waves of dinosaurs while the ship is being repaired. Also, players are invited to complete a bonus mission to clear the nearest nest. After the research team evacuates, the cutscene shows the team taking on a new mission - scanning the cave. There, she is also waiting for battles with waves of dinosaurs.
In addition to showing off the gameplay, Systemic Reaction also provided a release plan for Second Extinction's content. The first free update will be released in October or November and will add new mutant enemies and events, as well as the ability to adjust the difficulty. In the future, the game will have a horde mode, more weapons, opponents, seasonal events, armor upgrades, heroes, equipment.
Second Extinction will be released on Steam Early Access on October 13th. The project is also in development for Xbox One and Xbox Series X and S.
