As part of the Potato Mode (β€œPotato Mode”) column, journalists from the GameSpot portal decided to showhow it looks Half-Life: Alyx on unexpectedly low graphics settings.

This time, GameSpot employees decided not to bother setting the minimum allowable parameters: modern games, as a rule, look decent even in such conditions.

To spoil the graphics to the level of "potatoes", journalists had to turn to the NVIDIA Profile Inspector program - it can be used to improve game performance.

Having changed the texture rendering distance and β€œa couple of other settings” down, the enthusiasts returned to the game and found not only any detail of the environment missing, but also the VR interface.

Along with the textures from Half-Life: Alyx, the ability to draw with a marker on glass was gone - without this feature, one American teacher could not conduct an in-game geometry lesson.

Due to the maximum underestimation of the graphics of Half-Life: Alyx, the image on numerous monitors also ceased to be read, and the characters, among other things, also lost their pupils.

Half-Life: Alyx went on sale on March 23 this year exclusively for PC (Steam). The game is a full-fledged VR-adventure in the Half-Life universe, designed for 10-15 hours.
