Role-playing adventure with elements of a survival simulator Canadian studio Nine Dots was released a year ago, and recently published by Deep Silver about sales of more than 600 thousand copies. The developers do not intend to stop there and will soon release the first paid add-on, The Soroboreans. This was DLC in February, and now a video diary of its making has been released.
The creators promise that the new, tougher addition will allow adventurers to return with interest to the enchanting and deadly world of Aurai. The executive director of Nine Dots Studio, Guillaume Boucher-Vidal, spoke about what awaits players in The Soroboreans in the presented video.
The developers noted that at the start they gave Outward buyers maximum content, without cutting anything for future DLC. But a year has passed, and the game should be developed - even when creating the project, the team came up with the Soroboreans faction, but limited resources forced them to concentrate their efforts on three other factions and the region associated with them.
In the new DLC, the studio returned to its ideas, not only creating a faction of traders and scientists, but also adding to the game a completely new area, βAncient Plateau,β inhabited by unique creatures, with a huge city and new NPCs. There was once a huge metropolis here, of which only ruins remain, stretching up and down. The dungeons here are filled mainly with monsters and golems generated by the Scourge. The difficulty will also increase, because the developers are already counting on experienced players.
The game will have an additional difficulty in the form of corruption, the negative effect of which can kill the character, even if all other characteristics are normal. You will have to look for special equipment and potions to protect yourself and get to some locations. The game will also feature a new system for enchanting objects and weapons, and promises a lot of new skills and effects that will influence the hero and help him cope with new dangers. For example, by developing blood magic, it will be possible to derive certain benefits from the presence of filth in the body of your hero.
The exact launch date for The Soroboreans has not yet been announced. Outward was released in March 2019 on PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PS4 and Xbox One. In addition to single-player mode, cooperative mode is supported. In October the project received The Permadeath, Postgame, and Poutine, with which Outward added a high difficulty mode, secret bosses, items and support for new languages, including Russian (in the form of subtitles).
