GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER graphics card by MSI turned out to be ultra-compact

In their desire to make video cards more compact, NVIDIA partners were able to move up the price hierarchy to the GeForce RTX 2070 inclusive, and the ZOTAC brand at the January CES 2019 exhibition promised to drive even the GeForce RTX 2080 and GeForce RTX 2080 Ti into the dimensions of the mini-ITX form factor, but so far these plans were not put into practice. In any case, if sufficiently efficient video cards appear in a compact version, their length, most often, reaches 190 or 210 mm.

MSI acted quite quickly in the case of updating the lineup of video cards with Turing architecture and already offers an unusual video card GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER AERO ITX, which has very modest dimensions: 174 Γ— 127 Γ— 41 mm. In other words, its length does not exceed 174 mm, and this corresponds to the traditional proportions of the mini-ITX form factor. Of course, I had to be content with only one fan in the cooling system, but judging by the proportions in the photo, it is quite large.

In addition, the densely packed copper-based heatsink uses four heatpipes to distribute heat quickly and evenly across the heatsink. As befits a GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER series graphics card, the new MSI is equipped with eight gigabytes of GDDR6 memory with a 256-bit bus. The presence of an eight-pin auxiliary power connector allows you to count on some margin for overclocking. In automatic mode, the video card operates at frequencies of 1650/14000 MHz. Power consumption does not exceed 175 W, it is recommended to use a power supply unit with a capacity of at least 550 W to connect to a video card. Among other characteristics, a mass of no more than 572 g and the presence of 2176 CUDA cores are mentioned.

On the rear panel of the video card there are three DisplayPort 1.4 outputs and one HDMI 2.0b output, which are located in one row. For additional ventilation, two rows of holes of different widths are provided on the back panel. The graphics card itself is slightly wider than the standard expansion bar, but for this arrangement, this is a common thing. On the reverse side, the printed circuit board is covered by a solid reinforcing plate with ventilation slots.
