The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti video card can still be released in the Super version: expected characteristics

Rumors that NVIDIA may release the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Super graphics accelerator have been circulating for a long time. In the middle of last summer, company vice president Jeff Fisher seemed to dispel all doubts, saidthat such a video card is not planned for the announcement. And now speculation on this topic has resumed.

Network sources report that NVIDIA allegedly changed its decision and the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Super has a chance to exist. Moreover, the expected characteristics of this adapter are given.

Let us remind you that the current GeForce RTX 2080 Ti accelerator uses the NVIDIA TU102 Turing generation chip. The configuration includes 4352 stream processors and 11 GB of GDDR6 memory with a 352-bit bus. For reference products, the base core frequency is 1350 MHz, the increased frequency is 1545 MHz. The memory frequency is 14 GHz.

The GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Super model will allegedly operate with 4608 CUDA cores, 576 tensor cores and 72 RT cores. We are talking about 288 texture units (TMU) and 96 rasterization units (ROP).

As for the memory subsystem, for the new product, according to observers, NVIDIA can use one of two schemes: 12 GB of GDDR6 memory with a 384-bit bus or 11 GB of GDDR6 memory with a 352-bit bus. Moreover, the second option looks more realistic. The memory frequency will supposedly be 16 GHz.

NVIDIA, of course, does not confirm the published information. Meanwhile, online sources add that the announcement of the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Super may take place at the CES 2020 electronics exhibition, which will be held from January 7 to 10 in Las Vegas (Nevada, USA).
