AMD Videos Promoting New Features in Radeon Driver 19.12.2

AMD recently released a massive graphics driver update called Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition - available for download now. After that, the company shared videos on its channel dedicated to the key innovations of Radeon 19.12.2 WHQL. Unfortunately, the abundance of innovations means an abundance of new problems: now the specialized forums are inundated with complaints about certain difficulties with the new driver. So for Radeon owners who value system stability, it's better to wait a bit.

AMD Videos Promoting New Features in Radeon Driver 19.12.2

The first video talks about the graphics driver in general. In it, Senior Director of Software and User Experience Strategy Terry Makedon talks about AMD's major efforts in software development, as well as key innovations:

The following video is a real promotional trailer for the driver, in which, to peppy music, the company lists the main new features and capabilities, such as ease of installation and a new interface:

But that's not all: the company released a separate video dedicated to the Radeon Boost feature, which provides intelligent dynamic resolution changes in games based on camera movement and GPU load. Boost requires the participation of developers and is designed to make the gameplay more fluid in hard modes.

Among the first announced games with Radeon Boost support are Overwatch, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, Borderlands 3, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Destiny 2, Grand Theft Auto V, Call of Duty: WWII. AMD promises minimal quality degradation. A separate video explains how to enable this feature:

The new driver also features Radeon Image Sharpening (RIS), an intelligent sharpening algorithm with adaptive contrast control that delivers crisp, detailed images with virtually no performance degradation. Now we have added support for DirectX 11 games, the ability to adjust the level of the effect, as well as turn it on and off right inside the game. A specific video tells you how to enable the feature:

An interesting innovation of the driver is the function of integer scaling of games (especially old projects in 2D), designed for low resolution. Such projects may not be stretched to full screen, but displayed in a mode where, for example, every 1 pixel of the original image is displayed as 4, 9 or 16 real pixels - the result is a perfectly clear, not blurry picture.

AMD demonstrates the benefits of integer scaling with WarCraft II and released a separate video showing how to activate the feature:

AMD has made a significant bet on the Link mobile application, which works in conjunction with the new driver (it has already been released for Android, and will appear on December 23 for Apple devices). The company has optimized Link for smartphones, tablets and TVs, and added new features such as increased bitrate and support for capturing streaming video in x265 format. The company claims that playing full-fledged games on mobile devices via AMD Link has now become much more convenient. Link dedicated to a separate video:

Finally, AMD has improved the Radeon Anti-Lag feature, which is now supported in DirectX 9 games and pre-Radeon RX 5000 series graphics cards. As a reminder, it is designed to reduce input lag when it is caused by the GPU . Radeon Anti-Lag controls the speed of the CPU, making sure it doesn't overtake the GPU too much, reducing the number of operations the CPU queues. As a result, game response rates are improved. How to activate Radeon Anti-Lag - tells a separate video:
