The social network VKontakte announced a change in the system for verifying profiles and communities. From now on, getting a βtickβ is much easier. More talented authors, business representatives and opinion leaders will be able to receive confirmation than ever before.
βThe verification mark is no longer a symbol of special popularity. It only means that the page is run by real representatives, and not by fans or attackers, βthe message says.
Now, to pass verification, it is enough to prove your fame at the city level or provide documentary evidence that you are associated with a business that is being promoted on the social network. All the necessary information is listed on the page with the application form, which can now be filled out directly in the profile or community settings.
βWe introduced verification eight years ago and saw it as a way to distinguish a real page from dozens of fake ones. The requirements were very high: for example, frequent mentions in major media. Many aspiring authors and even mid-sized businesses did not meet these criteria. As a result, it was difficult to find their pages. Now we are making verification more accessible and transparent,β said Konstantin Sidorkov, director of strategic communications at the social network.
