Bethesda Softworks did not share information about the release dates and technical features of the DOOM Eternal and The Elder Scrolls Online editions for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, but confirmed an equally important detail.

As it turned out, owners of digital editions of games on the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One will receive an improved version for the console of their family (PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X, respectively) for free.

At the same time, it will be possible to play DOOM Eternal and The Elder Scrolls Online on new consoles (without any graphical upgrades) already at their launch thanks to backward compatibility technology.

In all details, including "approximate release time" and "upcoming improvements", the publisher promised to tell about DOOM Eternal and The Elder Scrolls Online for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X "in the coming weeks and months."

Recall that DOOM Eternal is based on id Tech 7. The engine, according to its lead programmer Billy Kahn, "will work extremely well" on the new consoles.

The company did not confirm the release of other Bethesda Softworks projects on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, but they pledged to continue not to take money from the owners of their games for the transition from the current generation of consoles to the next.
