The authorities approved the postponement of the implementation of the “Yarovaya package”

Let us recall that the “Yarovaya package” was adopted with the aim of combating terrorism. In accordance with this law, operators are required to store data on correspondence and calls of users for three years, and Internet resources for a year. In addition, telecommunications companies must store the contents of user correspondence and conversations for six months.

During the pandemic, the load on data networks has increased significantly. In this situation, telecom operators turned to the authorities with a request to postpone the entry into force of a number of norms of the “Yarovaya package”. We are talking, in particular, about an annual increase of 15% in data storage capacity. In addition, it was proposed to remove video traffic from the capacity calculation, the consumption volumes of which have increased significantly amid the spread of coronavirus.

In April, the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications directed proposals to defer the implementation of the demands of the “Yarovaya package” to the government. As it is now reported, this document has been approved. This measure is aimed at supporting the telecommunications industry during the pandemic.

At the same time, other proposals were rejected - postponing the deadline for paying taxes on employee income, rental holidays and reducing fees for the radio frequency spectrum by three times until the end of the year.
