The Ministry of Digital Development, Telecommunications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation (Minkomsvyaz) reports that free TV channels will be available even in those regions of our country that are outside the broadcasting reception area.
Recall that a large-scale project to switch to digital television broadcasting is currently being implemented in Russia. Approximately 98,5% of the population of the Russian Federation is already covered by digital broadcasting. However, the remaining 1,5% of citizens, or about 800 households, live in settlements where reception of an on-air TV signal is impossible or limited.
βResidents of those areas that are outside the reception area of ββterrestrial digital television broadcasting have the right to watch 20 federal channels free of charge using satellite television,β the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications said in a statement.
For free reception of two dozen channels, you will need to purchase a set of subscriber equipment - a satellite dish and a receiver. Such a set in the framework of the federal program for the transition to digital broadcasting costs about 4,5 thousand rubles, while its market price may be 12 thousand rubles.
βThis preferential price is temporary, it is set only for the time of transition to digital broadcasting. After June 3 (the third, last, wave of disconnection of the analog television signal), the price of satellite equipment will be dictated by the market, βthe agency emphasizes.
