The social network "VKontakte" does not store the voice messages of users in the public domain. Those messages that were previously discovered as a result of the leak were downloaded by users through unofficial applications. This was stated in the press service of the service.
Note that today there was information that voice messages in VK were in the public domain and could be found through the built-in search engine using the key “audiocomment.3gp”. The recordings themselves were in the "Documents" section, although it would be logical to place them in audio recordings or a separate section.
“There are no vulnerabilities in VKontakte - all voice messages in the VKontakte application are protected. No one, except the participants in the correspondence, will be able to access them. VKontakte does not use audiocomment.3gp format files for voice messages,” the press service said. “We highly recommend using the official VKontakte apps. For further investigation, we will promptly turn off the search for such documents.”
At the same time, according to TJournal, the developers of VK Coffee stated that they did not make changes to the implementation, and also clarified that they do not use the 3gp format. The creator of Kate Mobile was unable to confirm or deny the involvement of his program in the failure. However, he promised to look into the situation.
At the moment, records no longer appear in the search. At the same time, we note that this is not the first bug of the social network. In February, social network users received private messages with a link. When you click on it in all the groups managed by a particular user, the same entries appeared.
Later, the press service of the social network reported that the VKontakte team promptly removed audio messages from public access that users downloaded through third-party unofficial applications. In total, about two thousand files were deleted.
The developers separately noted that there is no vulnerability in VKontakte - all voice messages in the official VKontakte application have always been protected. It is alleged that no one except the participants in the correspondence will be able to access them. VKontakte does not use audiocomment.3gp format files for voice messages.
VKontakte recommends using the official applications of the social network.
