Volkswagen invests 4 billion euros in digitalization

It is reported that the main investments will be directed to the improvement of management, as well as to production.

Thanks to the investment, the company is expected to create up to 2000 digitalization-related jobs.

At the same time, as a result of the implementation of digitalization projects, up to 4000 jobs in the non-manufacturing divisions of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Group Components and Volkswagen Sachsen will be eliminated in the next four years.

The prerequisite for this is that as a result of digitalization, process optimization and administration, the need to perform a whole list of tasks and responsibilities will disappear.

Volkswagen AG and Volkswagen Sachsen GmbH have agreed on uniform employment guarantees for employees valid until 2029. During this period, forced layoffs will be prohibited.

The cost savings resulting from the investment will also help the company fund the transformation from its own funds.
