Volkswagen began mass production of ID.4 electric crossover

New information about the ID.4 electric crossover from Volkswagen (VW) on the modular electric drive platform (MEB) has appeared on the Web. According to sources, the VW ID.4 has already entered mass production and, judging by the recall of the nextmove YouTube blogger, who saw the new crossover at the Zwickau plant, it is close in size to the Tesla Model Y.

Volkswagen began mass production of ID.4 electric crossover

The production version of the VW ID.4, based on the ID Crozz electric car concept, was supposed to be presented in April, but its presentation was canceled due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Instead, VW has released some details about the new vehicle, including a range of up to 500 km on a single battery charge. However, we are talking about the indicator according to the WLTP standard, and the actual range is expected to be slightly less.

The German automaker also confirmed that the ID.4 will be VW's first next-generation electric vehicle based on the MEB platform to be delivered globally. Unlike the ID.3, VW's first electric vehicle based on the new MEB platform, which is not expected to be sold in North America, the ID.4 will be available in many more markets.

“We will manufacture and sell the ID.4 in Europe, China and the US,” the company said.

The blogger nextmove visited the VW plant in Zwickau, where the ID.3 is produced, and posted a video on the Web with a story about what he saw.
