Volvo Cars has introduced Care Key technology to help improve driving safety in situations where a private car is used as a car sharing vehicle.
The system will allow you to set a maximum speed limit before handing over the car to your relatives, as well as younger and less experienced drivers - for example, those who have just received a driver's license.
Care Key is expected to help reduce the number of traffic accidents. “Many people would like to be able to lend their car to friends or relatives and not worry about their safety on the roads. Care Key is one of the effective tools to solve this problem and a guarantee of peace and confidence for Volvo owners in the safety of their friends and loved ones,” the automaker notes.
Recall that from 2020, Volvo Cars will limit the maximum speed on all its cars to 180 km/h. Care Key technology will allow you to introduce even more stringent speed limits if necessary.
The Care Key system will be standard on all Volvo vehicles from model year 2021.
“Speed Limit and Care Key offer potential benefits beyond safety. They are still able to bring financial benefits to Volvo owners. In some countries, the company is inviting insurance companies to negotiate to offer Volvo customers who use new safety technologies the most beneficial insurance program,” the company adds.
