Despite the fact that due to US sanctions, Huawei found itself in a very difficult situation, it did not cancel the presentation of the new "people's" flagship Honor 20, as well as its improved version Honor 20 Pro. As in the past year, Huawei has clearly separated the devices from the "real" flagships in the face of the P30 and P30 Pro, depriving the new items of a number of features, but leaving the flagship platform.
The key differences between the Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro from the P30 and P30 Pro models lie in their rear cameras. The Honor 20 uses a bunch of four cameras at once. The main module is a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor with aperture optics ƒ / 1,4. It is complemented by a 16MP wide-angle camera, a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro camera.
In turn, Honor 20 Pro received a slightly different set of cameras. The main, macro and wide-angle modules here are exactly the same as on the regular Honor 20. But the fourth module is different: it is built on an 8-megapixel sensor and is equipped with optics with a 3x optical zoom. Also, the telephoto and main cameras of the Pro version are equipped with 4-axis stabilizers, while the regular OIS version does not. Finally, autofocus has been improved here. Both Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro received 6,26-inch LCD displays with a resolution of 2340 × 1080 pixels. In the upper left corner of the display there is a hole in which the front camera is located. The screen is surrounded by rather thin frames, and it takes up more than 91% of the front panel. Since they have not yet learned how to integrate fingerprint scanners into IPS displays, it is located on the side face in both “twenties” and is combined with a lock button.
Both new products are built on the flagship Kirin 980 platform with eight cores with a frequency of up to 2,6 GHz. The younger Honor 20 received 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of flash memory, while the Honor 20 Pro received 8 and 256 GB, respectively. There are also slots for microSD memory cards. The new products also have different front cameras: 24-megapixel for the usual “twenty”, and 32-megapixel for the Pro version.
And in the end, I would like to note once again that the new smartphones were presented almost contrary to the latest actions of the US government against Huawei. Recall that last week the US Department of Commerce listed the Chinese giant in the "”, thereby effectively banning American companies from working with Huawei. Because of this, for example, new Huawei devices Android security updates and will not be able to work with Google services. However, the situation has not yet been fully clarified. And despite the fact that Honor 20 was officially presented, it is not yet known in what form they will go on sale and when exactly.
