U.S. EV registrations double in just one year

There were 208 new electric vehicle registrations in the U.S. last year, more than double the number of vehicle registrations in 2017, IHS said Monday.

The increase in electric vehicle registrations was primarily observed in California, as well as nine other states that have introduced a Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) program.

California became the first state to launch a ZEV program requiring automakers to sell electric cars and trucks. Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island and Vermont then joined the program.
