Meet Calculate Linux 20!

We are pleased to present to you the release of Calculate Linux 20!

In the new version, the transition to the Gentoo 17.1 profile was made, the binary repository packages were rebuilt with the GCC 9.2 compiler, the official support for 32-bit architectures was discontinued, and the eselect utility is now used to enable overlays.

The following distribution editions are available for download: Calculate Linux Desktop with KDE desktop (CLD), Cinnamon (CLDC), LXQt (CLDL), Mate (CLDM) and Xfce (CLDX and CLDXS), Calculate Directory Server (CDS), Calculate Linux Scratch (CLS) and Calculate Scratch Server (CSS).

  • Overlays are now connected via eselect instead of layman and moved to the /var/db/repos directory.

  • Fixed simultaneous playback of sound by different applications when using ALSA.
  • Fixed default sound device setting.
  • Updated Xfce desktop to version 4.14, updated icon theme.
  • A graphical loading screen is displayed using Plymouth.
  • Fixed fixed network device names excluding devices with local MAC addresses.
  • Fixed selection of kernel settings between desktop and server in the cl-kernel utility.
  • Fixed the disappearance of the browser shortcut in the bottom panel when updating the program.
  • Renamed education distribution from CLDXE to CLDXS.
  • Improved accuracy of determining the required disk space for system installation.
  • Fixed system shutdown in a container.
  • Fixed partitioning of disks with logical sectors larger than 512 bytes.
  • Fixed auto-selection of a single disk during auto-partitioning
  • Changed the behavior of the "--with-bdeps" option of the update utility to be similar to emerge.
  • Added the ability to specify yes/no in utility options instead of on/off.
  • Fixed detection of currently loaded video driver via Xorg.0.log.
  • Fixed cleaning the system from unnecessary packages - removing the currently loaded kernel is excluded.
  • Fixed image preparation for UEFI.
  • Fixed IP address detection on bridge devices.
  • Fixed GUI autologin (using lightdm where it exists).
  • Fixed system boot hang related to OpenRC interactive mode.
  • Added preset IRC client for Spanish and Portuguese.
  • Added Norwegian locale (nb_NO).
