Second alpha release of the Debian 11 "Bullseye" installer

Submitted by The second alpha release of the installer for the next major Debian release, “Bullseye”. The release is expected in mid-2021.

Key changes in the installer compared to first alpha release:

  • Linux kernel updated to version 5.4;
  • Templates for information blocks about setting the system clock, highlighting a freshly installed system in the boot menu, and incorrectly entering IP addresses have been updated;
  • Added check of tasksel installation (typical sets of packages for various distribution installation modes) to pkgsel, regardless of its priority. Added a debconf template that allows you to completely skip tasksel (installation and request for selecting standard sets), while maintaining access to other pkgsel features;
  • When installing with a dark theme, the high contrast mode is enabled;
  • Added support for compiz ezoom (a magnifying glass that allows people with poor vision to see details);
  • Adjusted the use of multiple consoles - if active preseed, then instead of launching several consoles in parallel, only one priority console is launched;
  • In systemd, udev-udeb uses the file 73-usb-net-by-mac.link;
  • Added input, kvm and render to the list of reserved usernames (udev.postinst adds them as system groups);
  • Added support for Librem 5 and OLPC XO-1.75 devices.
