Spike Chunsoft announced that Detective AI: The Somnium Files will be released on PC on September 17, and on September 20 it will reach PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
AI: The Somnium Files is set in Tokyo in the near future. You will take on the role of detective Kaname Date, who is on the case of a mysterious serial killer. The hero must investigate crime scenes in search of clues. The game is being created by Zero Escape series director Kotaro Uchikoshi. The character designer is Yusuke Kozaki.
The gameplay is divided into two key components: Somnium and Investigation. The story unfolds as the player moves between modes. Investigation takes place in the real world. You collect information, listen to testimony and investigate crime scenes. Getting as much data as possible is rewarded - even if it seems scattered, the information can be useful in the future.
Somnium mode is about digging into the heads of suspects. You need to look into the corners of consciousness and open the "mental locks" with the evidence you find in order to dive deeper into the mind of a person and find out the truth.
