Linux Lite 5.0 codenamed "Emerald" is based on the Ubuntu 20.04 LTS distribution, the Linux kernel is 5.4.0-33, and the desktop environment used is XFCE. The OS comes with the latest versions of such programs as: LibreOffice 6.4.3.2, Gimp 2.10.18, Thunderbird 68.8.0, Firefox 76.0.1 and VLC 3.0.9.2.
βThe final release of Linux Lite 5.0 Emerald is now available for download and installation. It is the most feature-packed, complete release of Linux Lite to date. This is the release that many people have been waiting for so long. UEFI is now supported out of the box. The GUFW firewall has been replaced with a more functional FireWallD firewall (disabled by default),β says Jerry Bezencon, creator of Linux Lite.
The OS also includes the latest versions of programs: Google Chrome browser, Chromium (as a snap package), Etcher (software for writing OS images to SD cards and USB drives), NitroShare (a cross-platform program for sharing files inside a local networks - for those who do not want to mess with Samba), Telegram messenger, Zim text editor for creating notes (replaces unsupported CherryTree).
