Release of BlackArch 2020.06.01, distribution for security testing

Published new builds BlackArch Linux, a specialized distribution for security research and system security studies. The distribution is built on the Arch Linux package base and includes 2550 security-related utilities. The package repository maintained by the project is compatible with Arch Linux and can be used in normal Arch Linux installations. Assemblies prepared by as a 14 GB live image (x86_64) and a reduced image for network installation (500 MB).

As graphical environments, the window managers fluxbox, openbox, awesome, wmii, i3 and
spectrwm. The distribution can run in Live mode, but also develops its own installer with build-from-source capabilities. In addition to the x86_64 architecture, packages in the repository are also generated for ARMv6, ARMv7 and Aarch64 systems, and can be installed from ArchLinux ARM.

Major changes:

  • The structure includes 150 new programs;
  • The Linux kernel has been updated to version 5.6.14 (the branch 5.4 was previously used);
  • Wicd network configurator replaced with wifi-radar (GUI) and wifi-menu (console binding over netctl);
  • Disabled iptables/ip6tables service;
  • Removed unused virtualbox services (drag'n'drop, vmsvga-x11);
  • Updated installer (blackarch-installer 1.1.45);
  • Updated all system packages, window managers (awesome, fluxbox, openbox), vim plugins and BlackArch-specific utilities.
