All innovations:

  • Added new widgets for creating configurators, making it easier to write configuration dialogs and making them more consistent and consistent with the Cinnamon interface.   • In MintMenu, the search bar has been moved to the top. In the plugin for showing recently opened files, documents are now shown first. Significantly improved the performance of the MintMenu component, which now starts twice as fast. The menu settings interface has been completely rewritten, which has been translated to the python-xapp API;
  • The Nemo file manager has simplified the process of sharing directories using Samba. Through the nemo-share plugin, if necessary, installation of packages with
    samba, placing the user in the sambashare group, and checking/changing permissions on the shared directory, without having to manually perform these operations from the command line. The new release additionally adds the setting of firewall rules, checking access rights not only to the directory itself, but also to its contents, and handling situations with storing the home directory on an encrypted partition (requests adding the β€œforce user” option).

  • The Muffin window manager ported some changes from the GNOME project's Metacity window manager. Work has been done to increase the responsiveness of the interface and lighter window design. Improved performance for operations such as window grouping, and fixed stuttering when typing.
    Changing the application mode of VSync to deal with tearing in the output (tearing) now does not require a restart of Cinnamon. A block has been added to the settings to select one of the three methods of VSync operation, providing settings for optimal performance depending on the conditions of use and equipment.

  • An applet for printing has been added to the main composition, which is now launched by default;
  • Some internal components have been revised and simplified, such as DocInfo (processing of recently opened documents) and AppSys (parsing application metadata, defining icons for applications, defining an entry for a menu, etc.). Work has begun, but not yet completed, on the separation of applet handlers into separate processes.
