The release of the distribution kit "Alt Workstation K 10.1", supplied with a graphical environment based on KDE Plasma, has been published. Boot and live images prepared for x86_64 architecture (6.1 GB, 4.3 GB). The operating system is included in the Unified Register of Russian Programs and will satisfy the requirements for the transition to infrastructure running domestic operating systems. Russian root encryption certificates are integrated into the main structure.
Like other operating systems from the Alt OS family, the distribution is equipped with the Alterator graphical interface for system configuration, which allows you to manage users and groups, view system logs, add printers, configure the network, and much more. The system successfully works in the Active Directory domain (authentication in the domain, access to file and print resources). There are typical tools for performing office tasks - a web browser, an office suite of text editors and spreadsheets, as well as players and editors for sound and video.
Only individuals, including individual entrepreneurs, can freely use the downloaded version. Commercial and government organizations can download and test the distribution. For permanent work in the corporate infrastructure, legal entities need to acquire licenses or enter into license agreements in writing.
Main innovations:
- Added support for installing the system using the Ventoy utility.
- Added web kiosk mode: it is possible to install the system in a version for limited use, in which only a web browser is available to the user.
- The installation image provides a Live boot mode that allows you to test the system before installation.
- Enabled free memory monitoring service systemd-oomd, which improves system behavior when memory is low. When applications are forced to terminate by oomd, a separate notification is displayed to the user.
- During installation, the ability to create Btrfs subkeys is provided.
- Added automatic disk partitioning profile for Timeshift backup system.
- When an update fails, the Discover app center is configured to start a system restore (when using Btrfs, a restore point is created before the update).
- Updated application versions: KDE Plasma 5.24, KDE Gear 22.04, KDE Frameworks 5.97, Mesa 22.0.
