Release of Bodhi Linux 6.0 distribution offering Moksha desktop environment

Bodhi Linux 6.0 distribution package released with Moksha desktop environment. Moksha is being developed as a fork of the Enlightenment 17 (E17) codebase, created to continue the development of Enlightenment as a lightweight desktop, as a result of disagreement with the project's development policy, the growth of the Enlightenment 19 (E19) environment, and deteriorating codebase stability. Three installation images are offered for download: regular (872 MB), with additional drivers (877 MB), and extended with an additional set of applications (1.7 GB).

In the new version:

  • Switched to using the Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS package base (Ubuntu 18.04 was used in the previous release).
  • Significantly updated theme, login screen and boot splash screen.
  • Added animated desktop wallpapers.
  • Work has been done to improve distribution support for languages other than English.
  • By default, the GNOME Language Tool spell checker is enabled.
  • The PcManFm file manager has been replaced with its own edition of Thunar with the ability to configure background images for the desktop through the context menu.
  • File truncation issue has been resolved in Leafpad.
  • ePhoto provides loading of images not from the home directory.
  • Snap packages are disabled by default.
  • A new notification indicator has been added in the bottom bar, through which you can access the notification history.
  • By default, the Chromium web browser is used instead of Firefox (a traditional package is provided, not Canonical's snap).
